| Avec le comte Olaf, même un bol de bouillie d'avoines aux framboises devient flippant. On se croirait dans Misery. On ne sait jamais trop comment il va réagir, ça crée un sentiment d'insécurité constant... Il correspond assez bien au profil du parent maltraitant alcoolique/bipolaire. J'aurais aimé que cet aspect du personnage soit plus exploité dans la série Netflix. Tiens, ce passage m'a interpellé : - Lemony Snicket a écrit:
- Lately," Count Olaf said, "I have been very nervous about my performances with the theater troupe, and I'm afraid I mar have acted a bit standoffish."
The word "standoffish" is a wonderful one, but it does not describe Count Olaf's behavior toward the children. It means "reluctant to associate with others," and it might describe somebody who, during a party, would stand in a comer and not talk to anyone. Dans le chapitre 2 du tome XIII, il y a justement un passage où Lemony rechigne à descendre participer à une fête parce qu'il ne sait pas comment parler aux gens (introversion, quand tu nous tiens). Coïncidence ? Lemony ne peut pas s'empêcher de parler de lui durant toute la narration. | |
