Poe m'a vraiment fait penser à Théodora dans ce chapitre :

Attention : Handler se vautre dans ses commentaires sur la graphologie. La graphologie, c'est l'analyse de la personnalité par les écritures, qui est aujourd'hui largement décriée comme une pseudo-science au même titre que l'astrologie. L'expertise en écriture, elle, est une discipline d'investigation judiciaire et scientifique qui vise à identifier et vérifier les auteurs.

Oh, incidemment, les faux en écriture sont plus faciles à effectuer que ne le prétend Poe. Mais celui-ci est fort pressé de jeter les orphelins dans les bras de Sham pour retourner vite fait à la banque, voyez-vous.

OH SHIT. Alors les orphelins avaient bel et bien prévenu Poe qu'ils finiraient par prendre leurs strings et se casser ? Il aurait vraiment, vraiment, vraiment dû le voir venir. Et les injonctions mystérieuses des parents Baudelaire, omniprésents... Mes aïeux.
